hat did i do?
this lesson, me and my partner, gemma, rehearsed our lines for scene 23, getting a feel and understanding for the script and our characters.
we read through the section a few times before getting up and starting to include movement within the scene. however, considering our characters are sitting down, we were seated for most of the scene. we started the scene with me seeing her sitting down, and i approach her in an uncharismatic way.
then we started experimenting more with our vocal skills, trying different speech patterns and style. for example, my character - bethan - speaks with a dialect so i picked up an accent to perform the scene with. im going to stick with the accent as i think it does belong in the scene and it gives my character more of a personality and individuality.
how does this help me progress as a screen actor?
this helps me as it allows me to better understand my character and who/how she is as a person. it also allows me to try new things and see if they work and are comfortable or are awkward and dont allow the scene to flow as necessary.
targets for next session:
- rehearse lines more, getting more comfortable without the script
- get more fluid with movement and know it quickly.
